Experience At University Growth Fund, students gain an unparalleled learning experience. Students meet directly with entrepreneurs and investors, participate in due diligence, and help determine whether UGF invests from its multi-million dollar fund. Students may sit as an observer on the board and contribute value through research and strategy projects. They build a network and gain experience through meetings with entrepreneurs and investors, board service, and sourcing deals. The Program Students are brought on for one semester as interns. High performers may stay on as associates, taking on more autonomous work and refining an investment area of expertise. After about one year, strong associates are promoted to senior associate, who lead deals and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs and investors.Training New UGF interns undergo a 7‑week accelerated training program covering the basics of VC and PE investing. Additional training helps students refine skills and areas of expertise. Senior associates receive a deeper, mentored training. UGF also creates an individualized career preparation program to help students achieve career goals. The program includes subsidized trips and access to conferences such as CES, ACG Utah, and TechCrunch50.Recruiting We are looking for the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders from diverse backgrounds including finance, biology, English, math, computer science, engineering, economics, and more. Many student associates plan to pursue careers in entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship, investment banking, management consulting, private equity and venture capital. We seek candidates whom we can add value to because their goals align with our program and they have the drive to succeed. The two basic traits we look for are:Intellectual horsepower: The ability to think analytically and strategically, predict the future with limited information, and make decisions that impact our investment performance. There is a steep learning curve at UGF that requires your very best effort.Desire: This is an unpaid internship; success depends on what you put in. This may entail long hours to meet close dates and involve sacrifices, but it offers valuable experiences for those who have the desire.#J-18808-Ljbffr
