This position will support our growing State and Local Tax Practice by working closely with experienced CPAs and attorneys who specialize in these areas. The ideal candidate has a passion for client service, strong technical knowledge of sales/use tax matters, and an entrepreneurial spirit to help develop innovative solutions for clients.ResponsibilitiesExecute and support sales and use tax engagements, including nexus studies, exposure reviews, taxability research, and other consulting projectsParticipate in client calls and internal working sessions; provide clear, timely project status updates and document next stepsUtilize and improve workflows using artificial intelligence software provided by BTAssist clients with sales tax technology enablement (e.g., automated sales tax software implementations), including data gathering, testing, and troubleshootingSupport exposure mitigation efforts by reviewing analysis and workpapers for voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs), audit support, and related planning recommendationsPrepare well‑organized workpapers, technical memoranda, and client‑ready summaries that clearly communicate findings, assumptions, and recommendationsCoordinate day‑to‑day engagement workflow, including task management, prioritization, and coaching of junior team members as neededStay current on state and local tax developments and contribute to practice growth through process improvement, internal knowledge sharing, and client service excellenceQualifications2‑4 years of relevant state and local tax experience, with a focus on sales/use taxFamiliarity with key sales and use tax concepts (e.g., nexus, taxability, VDAs)Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with large data setsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldActively pursuing or holding one of the following accreditations is preferred:Licensed CPALicensed AttorneyCMIA Master of Taxation or LLM in Taxation is a plusPrevious Big 4 or large CPA firm experience preferredBennett Thrasher is an Equal Opportunity Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
