Police Officer IIIWe are seeking a Police Officer III for the Georgia State University Police Department. The department provides law enforcement, security, and safety services to the university community and surrounding areas, ensuring a safe environment for students, faculty, staff, and neighbors. The department is accredited by CALEA, IACLEA, and the Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program.ResponsibilitiesPatrol campus areas on foot or by motorized vehicle, issuing citations and warningsDirect traffic and enforce traffic laws and regulationsMaintain watch over buildings and grounds, check doors and windowsObserve and investigate suspicious actions or people, and dangerous or defective conditionsReport and investigate accidents, vandalism, thefts, and fireAssist in locating lost or stolen propertyProvide directions and information to the publicMaintain records of accidents and investigationsIssue warnings and tickets to the publicAdvise students, faculty, and staff on campus regulationsInvestigate traffic accidents, question drivers and witnesses, assist injured parties, and record pertinent dataPerform specialized police work protecting life and property, preventing violations, enforcing laws and regulations on university property, and apprehending violators within jurisdictionQualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDAt least three years of experience with Georgia POST certification as a Law Enforcement OfficerConsiderable knowledge of standard police practices and proceduresKnowledge of GSU campus layout and traffic patternsKnowledge of first aid and fire prevention techniquesEffective oral and written communication skillsAbility to conduct investigations and prepare reportsAbility to enforce campus regulationsCompensation & BenefitsAnticipated hiring range: $55,100 – $69,000.
