The client is an established European machine builder with a U.S. operation in Georgia supporting customers throughout the United States and Canada. The organization designs and builds downstream automation equipment for the plastic bottle blow-molding industry and has established a leading position in its European market. This is an opportunity to join a specialized international equipment manufacturer as it continues expanding its North American operation, giving the Senior Service Engineer significant exposure to customers, equipment, projects, and the company's engineering organization.
The Senior Service Engineer will split time between the Norcross facility and customer locations. In Norcross, you'll assemble and set up automation lines, test-run machinery, prepare equipment for factory acceptance and shipment, provide remote technical support, and assist customers by phone and email. In the field, you'll install and commission new equipment, troubleshoot and maintain existing production lines, and train customer personnel on proper machine operation. You'll also provide field feedback to R&D and help develop support manuals and step-by-step technical procedures, so your field experience can directly influence how equipment is supported and improved.
This position can align particularly well with experienced military technicians who have developed strong electrical, electronics, automation, controls, or electromechanical troubleshooting capabilities. Relevant experience could come from Navy electrical/electronics and advanced equipment technicians, Air Force avionics or electrical systems maintainers, Army electronic or automated-systems repairers, Marine Corps electronics maintainers, and other technical specialties involving complex machinery. The strongest military candidate will have progressed beyond basic component replacement and be comfortable independently diagnosing system-level problems, reading technical information, installing equipment, working directly with end users, and explaining technical systems to others.
This hands-on service engineering position requires up to 50% travel. Ideally, candidates should have prior machine or production-line installation experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of automation and electrical engineering. When not traveling, you'll work from the Norcross operation assembling, configuring, testing, and supporting equipment, rather than simply waiting for the next service call. Candidates must be able to obtain a passport for international travel, work effectively in an international organization, and work in the United States without employment sponsorship. Microsoft Office proficiency is expected, while AutoCAD experience is advantageous.
Norcross provides a strong home base for a field engineer supporting the broader North American market. Located northeast of Atlanta, the area provides access to a major international airport, a large industrial and manufacturing economy, and numerous residential options throughout Gwinnett County and the northeastern Atlanta suburbs. While housing costs in the Atlanta metropolitan area have increased over time, Norcross and surrounding communities can offer more housing flexibility than many major coastal technology and manufacturing markets. For a technician who enjoys travel but still wants the amenities and airport connectivity of a major metropolitan area, the location works particularly well for a national field-service career.
