Emory Pediatric Research Advanced Molecular Epidemiologic Scientist
The Department of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta invites interested applicants for the position of Emory Pediatric Research Advanced Molecular Epidemiologic Scientist. The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center provides a rich and collaborative environment for basic, clinical, and translational research and boasts a diverse faculty. Ideal candidates will have a strong record of demonstrated clinical expertise caring for pediatric neuro-oncology patients. The Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center has close affiliations with research investigators within the Winship Cancer Institute, Emory University, and the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a willingness to collaborate across departmental or center boundaries is essential.
This position will devote the majority of effort to research responsibilities in the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
- Specialize in designing, fabricating, and testing systems to manipulate tiny volumes of fluids (microliters or nanoliters) through micro-scale channels.
- Manage the outreach program that matches biomedical engineering (BME) undergrads with our patients at Children's.
- Seek funding opportunities with the collaboration of faculty in the pediatric population sciences program
- Design biological experimental and analytic plans for laboratory-based studies
- Provide analytic support for trainees and staff
Successful candidates will have:
- PhD degree
- A strong record of scholarship and appropriate funding as an investigator, and will be expected to work in a collaborative fashion, conducting nationally recognized research in pediatric hematology
- A history of academic excellence/achievement
- A strong interest in the mentorship of trainees and junior faculty to support growth in research and scholarship
- A history of service or leadership in a hematology-oncology program
Salary will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments. The primary focus of this position will be on innovative research and administrative duties. (100% effort).
