The CORPORATE HR MANAGER partners with field and corporate management and non-management employees to implement Human Resource policies and programs in the areas of employment practices, employee relations, organization effectiveness, performance management, learning and development, compensation and benefits, and employee services, etc. Manages HR workforce initiatives and provides lead HR support to non-HR initiatives and ensures HR legal compliance and employee sensitivity of the initiatives. Recommends, drives, and provides on-going management of HR programs necessary to support strategic operations and organization goals. Manages HR vendors and contracts. May manage other employees directly or indirectly. Works under broad direction.
- Manages employee relations activities for assigned areas. Meets with Human Resources/line management and affected staff members to investigate/obtain documentation on employee relations problems that cannot be resolved in the field and recommends/implements action necessary to resolve conflicts
- Consults, advises, coaches, and guides all employees up to and including executives in effectively dealing with employee relations issues, interpretation and application of policies/procedures, legal compliance, employee complaints, disciplinary and termination issues
- Investigates employment law issues/complaints as necessary (i.e. discrimination, harassment, wage & hour, new legislation, EEOC claims, subpoenas etc.) and other grievances and recommends appropriate resolutions
- Monitors employee relations problems to determine trends and recommends/develops policies/procedures to correct inequities. Consults with Law Department staff and acts as a company representative in legal actions as directed
- Designs and implements programs and practices that support a positive employee relations environment. Provides for access/guidance/consultation/education to other HR professionals and corporate/field leaders on policies, procedures, laws, practices, etc
- Establishes credibility of self and HR function within field regions via networking, partnerships, and value-added solutions. Travels to locations for employee transitions and builds on-site relationships with owners and/or management and staff to ensure
- Develops partnerships with field management to develop and implement HR systems, processes, and programs. Designs manages and implements effective solutions that align people strategies and HR delivery model with organization goals
- Facilitates interventions and solutions that drive a high-performance work environment. Actively coaches and guides managers in the areas of effective goal setting, development planning, coaching and feedback, and performance assessment, and review. Encourages and supports learning and development opportunities for all employees. Partners with field management to assess training needs and identify appropriate learning and development opportunities. Collaborates with the education department and/or external training vendors to design and deliver training as needed
- Collaborates with HR functional partners to implement and communicate compensation and benefits programs as needed to ensure managers have appropriate knowledge and understanding of compensation and benefits programs. Partners with compensation to address
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management or Development, or a related field, or the equivalent
- PHR/SPHR certification is desirable
- Two-three years experience in one or more HR areas such as benefits, payroll, employee relations, etc. and five years HR generalist/management experience working with high profile projects, and/or corporate-wide initiatives
- Broad knowledge of human resource practices and employment laws/regulations required
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills and knowledge of adult learning techniques required
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, independent judgment, and negotiation skills required
- Must display excellent oral and written communication skills, project/employee management skills, and interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate and partner with cross-functional teams and all employee groups
- Must have the ability to discuss sensitive and confidential information with a sense of emotional intelligence
- Multi-site facility experience is a plus
- Ability to travel as needed
- Must read, write and speak fluent English
- Must have good and regular attendance
- Performs other related duties as assigned
