Role Overview
This position will provide daily contracting and sourcing support, including request for proposal, negotiations, contract development, and risk mitigation to meet the acquisition needs for services and materials. The role involves proactive engagement with internal business partners and suppliers and requires leading sourcing projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily support of all sourcing and contracting activities, including RFI and RFP preparation, pre-bid meetings, review of offers, cost and price analysis, negotiations, and risk assessment.
- Prepare contract documents and agreements, and assist in contract administration, including changes, expediting, claims disposition, and closeout.
- Lead sourcing projects and assist in developing and implementing strategic programs for the procurement of equipment and services.
- Develop the sourcing strategy for low to high-risk services, managing multiple active projects concurrently.
- Manage relationships with vendors to ensure an efficient and transparent contracting and negotiation process.
- Work cross-functionally to improve and streamline processes while ensuring overall risk is properly controlled and mitigated.
- Develop a detailed knowledge of procurement policies and procedures to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Draft contract language, including special conditions for complex, non-standard purchases.
- Identify and evaluate new sources of supply to meet customer needs.
Required Qualifications
Education: - A bachelor's degree is required. A BS in Business, Management, Finance, or Law is preferred.
Experience: - Experience working in matrixed organizations with numerous stakeholders.
- Experience performing transactional contracting, including conducting requests for proposals, pre-bid meetings, negotiations, and preparing contract documents.
- Experience working within or supporting utilities or industrial operations is relevant.
- Experience with Maximo and/or GEP is a consideration.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Knowledge of contract law and drafting of terms and conditions.
- Understanding of legal provisions, contract formation issues, data security issues, remedies, liquidated damages, litigation avoidance, and dispute resolution.
- Legal and commercial negotiation skills.
- Customer-focused with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal customers, suppliers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
- Ability to handle tight deadlines, large workloads, and multiple projects.
- Superior written and oral communication skills to negotiate contract terms and write contracts clearly and concisely.
- Effective influencing and consensus-building skills.
- Strategic focus on problem-solving and excellent organizational skills.
