The Assistant General Counsel is directly involved in complex business transactions, negotiating critical contracts, litigation, real estate, employment and intellectual property matters and providing legal support for mergers and acquisitions, including transition and integration efforts, and financing transactions.What You'll AccomplishDraft, analyze, review, and negotiate agreements with professional sports teams, conferences and leagues, regional sports networks, university athletic programs, state high school athletic organizations, venues and events (e.g., bowl games), as well as agreements with sponsors, on-air talent, and othersCoach & develop members of the legal teamProvide legal advice and support in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic investmentsIdentify, research and analyze relevant federal, state and local requirements and translate into business solutions and processesAnticipate legal and contract/deal issues, and design and execute strategies to remediate risk to Playfly and its clientsSupport human resources, finance and other groups within the CompanyAssist General Counsel with dispute resolution and litigation oversight including drafting demand letters, managing discovery, and negotiating settlementsAssist with oversight of risk managementAssist in developing protocols for efficient deployment of the legal department, including practical guidelines for identifying issues, circumstances and actions that require legal department review and approvalConduct periodic employee training sessions with respect to company policies, and programs to promote awareness of legal issues and a culture of complianceOther job-related duties as assignedWhat You'll Bring7+ years of experience at a leading law firm and/or corporate legal departmentOutstanding written and oral business communication skillsExcellent drafting and negotiating skillsExperience across multiple legal disciplines, with a focus on contract drafting and negotiation strongly preferred.Experience with consumer data privacy/security issues, technology transactions (including software as a service (SaaS) agreements), intellectual property and privacy policies is preferredExperience in an in-house legal setting is preferred but not requiredExperience in the sports media industry is preferred but not requiredInstill and enforce a culture of compliance and transparencyCreative problem-solving skills to assist in meeting business needs and seizing new opportunities, while mitigating risk and managing key relationshipsStrong commitment to quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and complianceAbility to work collaboratively with others, and cooperatively with senior and executive-level staffAbility to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environmentExcellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task multiple prioritiesJD degree, admitted to practice law in the state in which located (must have evidence of good standing)Travel, Lifting, Physical RequirementsThis role is based in an office setting and is a sedentary roleSome travel may be required from time to timeWhat We DoPlayfly Sports is the full-service, leading sports marketing and media company that enables brands to engage with sports fans on a local, regional, and national level through scaled linear, digital, and experiential assets.
