Insurance Defense Associate Attorney (St. Simons, Georgia Office)McLain & Merritt, a well‑established mid‑sized law firm, seeks an associate attorney with 2‑5+ years of experience to join our premises liability and tort defense practice. The associate will be responsible for all aspects of litigation from inception to trial, including client meetings, motion drafting, depositions, hearings, mediations, trial preparation, and trials for a range of clients including Fortune 500 companies. This position offers growth, development, leadership, and autonomy.DutiesLitigate and lead premises liability and other tort cases in state and federal courts across Georgia.Handle pleadings, motion practice, depositions, dispositive motions, pre‑trial proceedings, trial, post‑trial motions, and appeals.Maintain client contact and reporting.Coordinate with team members in St. Simons and the Atlanta/Buckhead office.Travel as required.Meet billable time entry requirements and other firm requirements.Meet client reporting requirements and litigation initiatives.Maintain and meet litigation deadlines.QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the state bar association.Admission to Georgia federal courts is a plus (including Southern District of Georgia).2‑5+ years of post‑J.D. experience in insurance defense, premises liability, trial practice, civil litigation, and/or judicial clerkship.Strong writing, research, oral advocacy, trial, and organizational skills.Excellent interpersonal skills.Flexibility and adaptability.Drive and passion for trial practice.Self‑motivated and team player.Salary and BenefitsBase salary of $100,000.00 to $130,000+ depending on experience, with potential bonuses based on performance and profitability.401(k) and 401(k) matchingFlexible spending accountHealth insuranceLife insuranceVision insuranceMcLain & Merritt, P.C. is an equal opportunity employer.
