Lead Youth Mentor (Atlanta)InspiritusThe Lead Youth Mentor oversees and maintains an afterschool program site and summer enrichment program for high school students, ensuring safe and efficient operations alongside staff, interns, and volunteers. Assigned to a school-based site, this role integrates afterschool programming with a state-funded Youth Mentoring initiative, providing hands-on coaching and individualized support to refugee transition-aged youth focused on academic success, career readiness, and higher education.In addition to leading daily afterschool activities, the Lead Youth Mentor conducts one-on-one mentoring sessions and develops individualized Career Development Plans to guide students in achieving their educational and vocational goals. The role also includes assessing student progress, maintaining accurate records, and directly supervising and engaging an afterschool class of refugee youth.Position Details:Full Time positionRefugee and immigration Services – Youth ServicesReports to Youth Services CoordinatorLocated in Atlanta, GAMostly in-person position with some local travelMonday through Friday; 10:00AM – 6:30PM, flexible hoursAnnual Compensation: $40,000 - $45,000Responsibilities:Responsible for supporting youth afterschool enrichment and youth mentoring programming, organization, and operation of the Inspiritus afterschool and summer camp program at an assigned siteSupervise and tutor refugee youth in all academic subjects, specifically focusing on literacy skills, self-sufficiency, creativity, and academic progressComplete Individual Career Development Plans, one-on-one mentoring sessions, assessments, and on-going educational and career pathway coaching for all eligible and enrolled studentsFacilitate student afterschool assessments for each student on siteComplete home visits as necessary for program enrollment, parent engagement, ongoing supportAssist Youth Services Coordinator in the planning and execution of summer camp programming, including but not limited to curriculum development, teaching, facilitation, and transportationIntegrate volunteers/interns into program activities, supervising and utilizing their presence effectively to best meet the needs of enrolled studentsConforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructionsComplies with the various federal, state or local laws that apply to and regulate the job responsibilitiesBuild and maintain strong partnerships with schools, service providers, community organizations, and stakeholdersParticipate in professional development, trainings, and Inspiritus activities while maintaining program goals, compliance, and professional boundariesDocument services and client information into an online databasessociate's or Bachelor's degree or international equivalent in education or human services-related or education field and minimum of two years of previous direct work experience in youth and/or human services, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExcellent oral and written communication skills in EnglishExperience working in a culturally diverse environment and high level of cultural competenceExcellent computer skills, accurate typing, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookMust be sensitive to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.Must own a personal multi-passenger vehicle, hold a valid Georgia Driver's license, have a good driving record, and have appropriate personal auto insuranceThe Lead Youth Mentor role detailed in this description is not a comprehensive list of all duties that may be requested for the successful completion of this role and may garner some circumstantial duties deemed critical to meeting performance goals.Physical Demands:Regularly required to talk and hear.
