Utility CoordinatorUnder limited supervision administer utility pre‑construction activities for moderate to complex Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) projects throughout Concept, Preliminary Design and Final Design phases of GDOT's Plan Development Process including Design Build projects, Local Government Projects or Roadway contractors.Essential Tasks & ResponsibilitiesGuide and develop the processing of utility agreements, contract item agreements, lighting agreements, execute memorandums of understanding, perform prior rights research and provide assistance in administering the Department's electronic permitting program (GPASS/GUPS).Compose / develop and provide training in support of GDOT Districts and State Utilities Offices.Perform analyses for complex engineering and environmental projects. Demonstrate competency in a combination of areas including field supervision, technical knowledge, and project management.Responsible for making correct interpretations of findings and recognizing and identifying inconsistent or inappropriate results; know how and when to apply standard practices and techniques to unusual situations; consult with project manager or other senior technical professionals when resolving problems or making appropriate actions.Motivate, train and mentor subordinate staff assigned to tasks or projects.Assume full management responsibility and accountability for managing large tasks or projects with review by the project manager or appropriate senior technical professional; develop project strategy and scope and realistic budget; review project deliverables.Manage and communicate results, budget and schedule information to the client, project manager and appropriate operations management.Represent WSP and interact professionally with client and subcontractor representatives.Ensure the firm's administrative and financial policies and procedures, and discipline‑specific methods and procedures are followed.Understand, apply and oversee safety requirements.Minimum Skills / Qualifications7 years of transportation experience involving construction inspection, design and/or utility coordination.High school diploma.Knowledge of GDOT's Utility Accommodation Policy & Standards manual, guidelines and procedures, roadway and utility construction and/or utility design experience is a plus.Knowledge of and experience with industry specific software (e.g., MS Office, Word, Excel and GPASS/GUPS); utility permitting software is preferred.Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.Demonstrated task and project management skills.Demonstrated maturity in judgment, initiative and client relations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability and willingness to develop business from new and existing clients.Ability to establish effective internal and external working relationships.WSP USA (and all of its U.S. companies) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
