Position DetailsJob Title: Paraprofessional, Special EducationLocation: Ashford Park Elementary School, Ashford Park ESJob ID: 21238 (2026-2027)Posted: April 2, 2026Closing Date: June 15, 2026Salary Grade/Schedule: Unified 108ResponsibilitiesAssist students with physical and personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, lifting, mobility, and nonmedical personal care activities as outlined in the student's IEP.Provide daily health‑related care, including hygiene and other non‑medical assistance, ensuring activities align with IEP requirements and district/state guidelines.Assist students with health‑care procedures, including hygiene and medications, as needed for daily care.Offer small group or individualized instruction in accordance with lesson plans developed by the teacher.Monitor students before and after school and during non‑instructional transitional periods.Support teachers with daily classroom management activities designed to promote conducive learning environments.Assist teachers with assessment of student performance and other record‑keeping tasks.Help develop and organize instructional materials and ensure availability before scheduled instruction.Provide direct instructional support to students under the supervision of a certified special education teacher.Reinforce academic content in whole group, small group, and one‑on‑one settings.Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in students' IEPs.Assist with progress monitoring and data collection under teacher supervision.Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) with fidelity.Maintain a safe and structured learning environment.Support students' self‑regulation, social skills, and behavioral strategies.Participate in professional learning and required training.Maintain confidentiality of student records in compliance with FERPA and district policies.Perform additional duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED and successful completion of the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.Associate degree or higher from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission‑approved accredited college or university.Minimum of 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) of college coursework with a GPA of 2.0 or higher from a Georgia PSEC‑approved accredited college or university.Valid Professional Standards Commission‑approved paraprofessional certificate.Equal Opportunity StatementThe DeKalb County School District is an equal opportunity employer, and all hiring decisions are subject to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.#J-18808-Ljbffr
