JOB SUMMARYWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Roadway Construction Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in the construction process by inspecting and reporting on all phases, including civil work, structural integrity, utilities, and safety protocols. Your expertise will ensure that all contract documents, working drawings, and specifications are meticulously followed by contractors. You'll also be tasked with fostering professional relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, and the public, ensuring a smooth construction process.ESSENTIAL DUTIESAttend project-related meetings as required.Document daily construction activities in detail.Assist in coordinating project acceptance testing.Conduct inspections for materials and ensure their acceptance prior to installation.Identify and communicate potential issues to contractors and project engineers.Keep project engineers and supervisors informed on project progress.Execute quality system tasks as outlined in the quality manual.Compile and submit weekly status and progress reports, covering project conditions, discussions, and activities.Provide daily photographic documentation of job site progress and existing conditions when necessary.Update plans and specifications with addendums as needed.Maintain as-built drawings throughout the project duration.Ensure compliance with specifications and maintain accurate records.Perform additional related duties as assigned.REQUIRED SKILLSThis is a partial listing of necessary skills and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not exhaustive:Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices, techniques, materials, and equipment.Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and drawings accurately.Strong written and verbal communication skills for extensive documentation and reports.Capability to detect errors in construction processes and maintain collaborative relationships with contractors and stakeholders.Proficiency in performing installation tasks and field measurements.Basic mathematical skills to assist with measurements and quantity calculations.Understanding and enforcement of safety policies and procedures.Ability to operate surveying equipment and understand grading techniques.Competent in using computers and software related to documentation and spreadsheets.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation and ExperienceCross-skilled in asphalt/resurfacing and utility inspection preferred.High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).2 years of experience in inspecting utilities, electrical systems, waterline installations, and roadway construction.LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONSNICET, ACI, ICC or other relevant certifications related to asphalt resurfacing and erosion control are required, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.Valid Georgia Driver's License and compliance with company policy standards for Motor Vehicle Records (MVR).PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to stand for extended periods of time and walk in rugged conditions.Manual dexterity to handle objects, tools, and controls; must be able to communicate effectively.Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling as required.Capability to lift or move up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 125 pounds occasionally.Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, color perception, depth perception, and focus adjustment.WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is primarily conducted outdoors in varying weather conditions.Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.Noise levels may be high on job sites.May require travel, evening, night, weekend, and holiday hours as necessary.We are an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and a Certified Drug-Free Workplace, committed to promoting an inclusive environment regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability.
