The Substation Civil Construction Inspector is responsible for overseeing and inspecting civil construction activities associated with electrical substations and utility infrastructure projects. This role ensures that site development, clearing, earthwork, foundations, drainage, and structural components are constructed in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and utility requirements. The inspector works closely with contractors, engineers, and project management teams to verify quality control, maintain compliance with drawings and specifications, and document construction progress on high-voltage substation projects.Key ResponsibilitiesInspect civil and horizontal construction activities including site grading, excavation, foundations, grounding grid installation, duct banks, drainage systems, and access roads within substation sites.Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, environmental requirements, and utility construction standards .Perform inspections of concrete placement, reinforcing steel, anchor bolts, equipment pads, control building foundations, and structural components .Verify installation of underground conduit systems, cable trenches, grounding systems, and stormwater management infrastructure .Document daily construction activities, progress, and field observations through inspection reports, photo documentation, and punch lists .Identify safety concerns and ensure contractors comply with OSHA regulations and site safety plans .Witness and verify material testing and quality control procedures , including compaction testing, concrete testing, and soil stabilization.Support project closeout activities including final inspections and turnover documentation .Required Qualifications7-10+ years of experience in civil construction inspection, utility construction, or heavy infrastructure projects .Experience working on electrical substation or transmission and distribution construction projects .Strong knowledge of civil site development, earthwork, concrete construction, and underground utilities .Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction specifications, and survey layouts .Experience with quality control documentation and daily reporting .Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and utility construction safety practices .#J-18808-Ljbffr
