Through specialized services, their goal is to increase the retention and graduation rates of college students who demonstrate academic need and who are either first‑generation, and/or low‑income, and/or have a documented disability. This goal is based upon the belief that all students, regardless of age, family background, learning style, or presence of a disability, should have equal opportunity to reach their full personal, academic, and career potential.The Educational Program Specialist is responsible for the provision of services to the TRIO SSS (Student Support Services) participants. Through a holistic approach, this position will advocate for and empower participants toward self‑sufficiency by providing needs assessments and offering advisement and guidance in the areas of academic, financial, career, social, and personal development.This position will be at the Clarkston GSU Perimeter College.What makes TRIO Student Support Services a great place?Generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, tuition assistance, retirement, etc.A knowledge‑sharing organization that works collaboratively with a variety of partners.Professional development opportunity and mentorship.A rapidly growing center within an academic setting.Here is what you will doIdentify and recruit eligible participants for TRIO SSS Program.Maintain a caseload of students and meet regularly with students to provide academic, career, social/personal, financial, and transfer/graduate/professional school advisement.Develop, plan, and facilitate seminars and workshops for program participants.Coordinate academic, cultural, and educational services/activities to meet objectives.Maintain detailed and accurate records of program data required for federal reporting purposes.Generate monthly reports and assist Director with annual performance reporting.Perform other duties as assigned.Physical RequirementsThe position may require local travel between campuses to perform required duties, attend meetings, and other responsibilities.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.Requires adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone, and in writing.
