In this senior lead technical role, you will interface directly with clients and the Arcadis Power Delivery team, acting as project manager, engineer, proposal manager, and business developer. You will oversee day-to-day client engagement, coordination, and project execution, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and Arcadis policies, including Safety, Environmental, QA/QC, and other operational protocols. The position works closely with protection & control engineering, transmission engineering, renewable energy engineering, distribution & EV technology, system planning & studies, and other Arcadis business divisions.Primary responsibilities include hands‑on substation electrical engineering at all voltage classes, detail design, and studies for utility and developer clients across North America, as well as coordination with renewable energy teams (wind, solar, BESS, Green H2).Role accountabilities Participate in substation design at all project stages—concept, pre‑feasibility, feasibility, detail design, procurement, construction, and asset management/condition studies.Coordinate design activities across disciplines to maintain schedules and ensure successful project completion.Lead and participate in preparing project estimates, engineering estimates, proposals, and client engagement and business development activities.Manage, grow, and mentor the Substation Electrical team; lead design on large/complex projects and perform quality reviews.Act as Project Manager, Proposal Manager, Program Manager, Account Manager, and Technical Lead to support client growth and business development in the region.Conduct quality assurance and control for the work of other electrical engineers, designers, or technicians; participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and vendors.Travel may be required up to 30% of the time, both within North America and potentially internationally.Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.Minimum of 10 years of direct substation electrical engineering & design experience in the power and utility industry.Extensive experience in substation physical layouts, sectional and elevation drawings, bus configurations, cable and conduit sizing, grounding, control building, lighting & lightning, and all aspects of HV and EHV substation engineering & design and studies.Proficiency in AutoCAD and SKM/ETAP, CDEGS/WinIGS, and other engineering software required for substation design.Design experience adhering to the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, IEEE codes and standards, as well as county, city, and state codes, ordinances, and standards.Preferred Qualifications PE license.Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.Arcadis offers benefits for full‑time and part‑time positions, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, Employee Assistance Program, 401(k), short‑term and long‑term disability, AD&D, life insurance, paid parental leave, a reward and recognition program, optional well‑being benefits, adoption assistance, and tuition reimbursement.
