Clinical Nurse – Hematology/Oncology We are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with hematology and oncology conditions. The Clinical Nurse will perform assessment, triage, treatment, and education of patients in accordance with PCI policies, standards of practice, and prescribed workflows.Responsibilities Provide patient care in the Infusion Suite and Triage Department, as assigned by Nurse Team Leaders and Clinical Managers.Conduct patient interviews and nursing assessments to develop, implement, and evaluate a nursing plan of care; interviews may be in person or via telephone.Demonstrate proficiency in venipuncture, management of vascular access devices, and therapeutic phlebotomy.Perform independent order verification for chemotherapy and immunotherapy orders; administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other medications (oral, intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous) per physician and advanced practitioner orders.Document all patient interventions in real time using available software; interventions include medication administration, procedures, education, referrals, and phone conversations with patients or other agents.Follow protocols for safe handling of biohazardous materials and hazardous drugs.Assist physicians or advanced practitioners with patient examinations or procedures and, under direct supervision, administer agents for conscious sedation, monitoring patients as required.Respond to emergency situations and information requests from patients, care partners, and third‑party agents as directed by PCI policies.Educate patients and care partners on the plan of care, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, procedures, referrals, and medication schedules; provide psycho‑social and emotional support.Coordinate referrals to support services and third‑party outpatient service departments for procedures, medication delivery, and other specified care.Serve as a resource to colleagues, preceptor new employees, and relief team leader as directed by nursing leadership.Maintain a safe, clean work environment; manage time effectively, delegate responsibilities appropriately, and focus on cost containment.Maintain confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and secure handling of PHI and ePHI; provide clinical information to the Revenue Cycle Management Department as requested.Participate in prescribed research training exercises to develop proficiency in clinical trial procedures and knowledge applicable to trial tasks.Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.BLS Certification.Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) experience preferred but not required.Oncology chemotherapy/immunotherapy provider course certification preferred.Proficiency in central line care and venipuncture preferred.Knowledge of registered nurse theory and practice to implement and evaluate patient care.Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, families, co‑workers, medical staff, and the public.Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures to patient care.Ability to work in a changing, multi‑demand setting, prioritizing a large volume of work efficiently.Good computer skills and knowledge of EHR systems.Some travel is required (very intermittent).Benefits Pay: From $42.00 per hour (Full‑time).401(k) plan with company match.Health insurance (medical, dental, vision, and life).Employee assistance program & referral program.Paid time off and employee discount.Additional Information Physical setting: Clinic, Outpatient; work location: In person.HIPAA: The Clinical Nurse will have access to PHI and ePHI in the course of duty, applying the minimum necessary standard.Piedmont Cancer Institute is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
