About the Opportunity
Direct Counsel is seeking a Senior Leasing Attorney to join a leading global law firm's Real Estate Group. This role offers the chance to work on sophisticated leasing matters across a variety of property types, including office, retail, industrial, and life sciences. The position is available in multiple major U.S. markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as lead attorney in drafting and negotiating commercial leases and related agreements (transfer consents, SNDAs, lender subordination agreements, letters of intent, work letters, etc.)
- Supervise junior leasing attorneys and provide guidance on complex matters
- Interact directly with clients, opposing counsel, brokers, property managers, and other stakeholders
- Deliver efficient, business-oriented solutions that align with clients' objectives
Qualifications - JD from an accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction of the office applied for
- Minimum 8 years of experience in commercial leasing and related agreements
- Strong background in landlord representation across multiple property types
- Excellent negotiating, drafting, and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines efficiently
Desired Skills - Deep understanding of commercial leasing markets and "market" terms for various lease structures
- Experience with life sciences leases is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Compensation & Benefits - Base salary range: $250,000 - $300,000 (depending on geographic market and qualifications)
