Deliver comprehensive patient care in a dynamic adult and geriatric med/surg unit with an emphasis on renal-related diagnoses. This contract opportunity provides hands-on experience with diverse patient populations in a setting equipped to manage complex needs, including hemodialysis catheters, peritoneal dialysis (manual and cycler), sepsis, tele monitoring, CIWA protocols for ETOH withdrawal, UTI, CKD, and hypertensive emergencies.
Schedule/Hours:
- Day shift: 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00)
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Flexibility to float within the unit as needed
- Holiday coverage in alignment with assignment period
Qualifications: - Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (first-time travelers welcome)
- Current BLS certification
- Comfortable caring for adults and geriatric patients in a med/surg, renal-focused setting
- Experience with Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems is preferred
- Familiarity with HD cath management, peritoneal dialysis, tele monitoring, and protocols for sepsis, UTI, CKD, and HTN emergencies
Responsibilities: - Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care for a census averaging 18 patients across 20 rooms, maintaining a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Administer medications and treatments with attention to renal protocols and tele monitoring parameters
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, engaging in patient assessment, care planning, and documentation
- Maintain compliance with all facility standards, workflows, and safety protocols
- Adapt to floating and work collaboratively to cover census fluctuations
Requirements: - Compliance with orientation and credentialing processes (bi-weekly orientation schedule)
- Flexible to work major holidays as assigned during contract
- Adhere to professional dress code (navy, white, or combination)
