We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial HVAC Service Manager who leads from the front. This role is ideal for a seasoned technician ready to manage a small team while remaining actively involved in the field. You will provide advanced technical expertise on complex commercialsystems while overseeing daily service operations and supporting your team's success.
This is not a desk-only position - this leader works alongside technicians on high-level diagnostics, major repairs, and mission-critical equipment. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in commercial HVAC systems, proven leadership ability, and a clear commitment to delivering quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
Hands-On Technical Leadership
- Diagnose and repair complex commercial HVAC systems in the field.
- Lead troubleshooting on large-tonnage equipment including:
- Chillers (air & water-cooled)
- Cooling towers
- Boilers (hydronic & steam)
- VRF/VRV systems
- RTUs, AHUs, VAV systems
- Building Automation & Controls systems
- Perform advanced refrigeration diagnostics (superheat, subcooling, airflow analysis, static pressure, load calculations).
- Support technicians on complex service calls and emergency breakdowns.
- Oversee equipment start-ups, retrofits, recommissioning, and system upgrades.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective solutions.
Team Leadership & Development - Supervise and mentor a team of commercial service technicians.
- Provide technical training and ongoing skill development.
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
- Set expectations for quality, professionalism, and customer service.
Service Operations - Coordinate scheduling and workload distribution.
- Ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to manufacturer standards.
- Monitor service performance metrics and reduce callbacks.
- Assist in developing maintenance programs and service agreements.
Customer-Facing Responsibilities - Act as technical point of contact for commercial clients.
- Provide system evaluations, repair recommendations, and capital replacement guidance.
- Build long-term relationships with facility managers and property owners.
Safety & Compliance - Enforce OSHA, EPA, and local code compliance.
- Lead jobsite safety meetings and inspections.
- Ensure proper refrigerant handling and documentation.

Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the HVAC industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, installation, and maintenance.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team. Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong focus on customer satisfaction.
- Proficiency with HVAC diagnostic tools and software.
- EPA Universal
- Valid Drivers License
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications: - HVAC certification - NATE, etc. preferred.
- Technical degree or equivalent training in HVAC preferred.
- Experience with scheduling/dispatch software is a plus
