Cobb Bethel Cemetery Preservation is seeking a hands-on Volunteer Crowdfunding & Fundraising Campaign Lead to help develop, launch, and promote a crowdfunding campaign supporting the preservation of Cobb Bethel AME Cemetery, a historic Black cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia.
The preservation effort has reached a critical stage requiring professional funding for a historical cemetery-boundary retracement, signed and sealed boundary survey, metes-and-bounds legal description, and legal services needed to support the cemetery preservation effort.
We are looking for someone who can help turn these established funding needs into an organized crowdfunding campaign and, importantly, help execute the outreach necessary to drive potential donors and supporters to the campaign.
Responsibilities
- Help develop and launch the crowdfunding campaign.
- Organize campaign messaging, funding needs, photographs, historical information, and supporting materials.
- Develop a practical outreach and promotion plan to drive traffic to the campaign.
- Identify relevant audiences, community groups, organizations, networks, and other potential supporters.
- Develop fundraising messages for email, social media, and supporter outreach.
- Coordinate campaign promotion and follow-up.
- Track outreach activity, campaign progress, and follow-up needs.
- Help develop campaign updates and donor communications.
- Recommend adjustments when outreach or fundraising results are slower than expected.
- Coordinate with the preservation project's Volunteer Operations & Project Manager as needed.
Qualifications
Experience or demonstrated skills in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- Crowdfunding or peer-to-peer fundraising
- Nonprofit or community fundraising
- Digital fundraising campaigns
- GoFundMe or similar crowdfunding platforms
- Fundraising communications
- Community outreach
- Social media promotion
- Donor engagement
- Marketing, communications, or public relations
- Campaign or project management
Professional nonprofit experience is helpful but not required. Relevant professional, volunteer, community, marketing, communications, or fundraising experience will also be considered.
Other Details
This is a primarily remote volunteer opportunity with a flexible schedule. The anticipated commitment is approximately 5–8 hours per week during campaign development and launch.
This is an execution-focused role. Existing project history, documentation, photographs, professional cost information, and other campaign materials will be provided. The volunteer will not be expected to independently determine the cemetery's legal or surveying requirements.
The project lead will retain final approval over campaign messaging, expenditures, partnerships, and other significant decisions.
