Marketing Specialist 2 - Communications & Marketing to support the Southern Company Gas EDGE Organization in Atlanta, Georgia.
This position will develop and execute integrated communications and marketing strategies to enhance employee engagement, raise awareness of initiatives, support organizational change, and promote data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.
The Marketing Specialist will partner with business leaders, project teams, technical professionals, and key stakeholders to translate complex business, technology, data, and transformation initiatives into
clear, compelling, audience-focused communications.
The successful candidate will combine strategic communications expertise with hands-on experience in
content development, marketing campaigns, executive communications, employee engagement, digital communications, event promotion, stakeholder engagement, analytics, and brand management.
This position is particularly well suited for an experienced communications professional who can operate effectively in a complex corporate environment and communicate sophisticated concepts involving
data strategy, technology, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and organizational change.

RequirementsKey Responsibilities Strategic Communications - Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans supporting business objectives, strategic initiatives, and organizational priorities.
- Serve as a communications resource and advisor to business leaders, project teams, and key stakeholders.
- Develop key messages aligned with corporate objectives, organizational priorities, and established brand standards.
- Maintain consistent messaging across internal and external communication channels.
- Translate complex business, technical, data, and technology concepts into clear and engaging communications for diverse audiences.

Marketing Strategy & Campaign Management - Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns designed to increase awareness, engagement, and adoption of organizational programs, products, services, and initiatives.

- Develop communications that help employees understand how new initiatives affect their roles and the broader organization.
- Support recognition programs, employee events, leadership initiatives, and organizational engagement activities.
- Measure employee engagement and communication effectiveness through analytics, surveys, feedback, and other performance indicators.
Executive & Leadership Communications - Support executive communications and leadership messaging.
- Develop presentations, talking points, briefing materials, announcements, and other executive-level content.
- Work with leadership to ensure communications are clear, consistent, audience appropriate, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Translate complex strategic and technical information into concise executive-level communications.

Content Development & Storytelling - Write, edit, proofread, and produce high-quality professional content for multiple communication channels.

Event Communications & Promotion - Develop promotional strategies for organizational events, conferences, workshops, leadership meetings, and strategic initiatives.
- Coordinate communications before, during, and following events.
- Develop event messaging, invitations, presentations, promotional materials, and follow-up communications.
- Support stakeholder outreach and engagement activities.
- Coordinate with business leaders and project teams to maximize event awareness and participation.
Change & Transformation Communications - Support communications associated with organizational change, digital transformation, technology adoption, data governance, and strategic initiatives.
- Develop communication strategies that build awareness, understanding, engagement, and adoption.
- Help communicate the business value of data-driven decision-making and strategic data initiatives.
- Support long-term communication and training initiatives related to data and information literacy.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify communication needs throughout major transformation initiatives.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, English, Digital Media, or a related discipline.
- Approximately 5-10 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, public relations, employee communications, digital communications, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing communication and/or marketing strategies.
- Experience planning and managing integrated marketing or communication campaigns.
- Strong professional writing, editing, proofreading, and content-development abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with leadership, employees, project teams, and stakeholders.
- Ability to translate complex business or technical subjects into clear and compelling communications.
- Experience working across multiple communication channels and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration/MBA, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification in communications, marketing, public relations, change management, digital marketing, or project management.
