We're looking for an experienced and collaborative Senior HR Compliance Specialist to help strengthen the HR compliance practices that support our growing organization.
Position Overview
This is more than a compliance tracking role. You'll have the opportunity to lead meaningful compliance initiatives, deliver organization-wide training, strengthen policies and processes, conduct compliance reviews, and help build a culture where people understand not just what is required—but why it matters.
If you enjoy turning complex policies into practical guidance, facilitating engaging training, improving processes, and helping organizations operate responsibly and consistently, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
As a Senior HR Compliance Specialist, you'll partner closely with People/HR leadership and have the opportunity to:
- Lead HR compliance initiatives and help strengthen our overall compliance program.
- Develop and deliver engaging compliance training for employees and volunteers on topics such as workplace conduct, anti-harassment, confidentiality, data privacy, ethics, safety, and HR policies.
- Review and help improve HR policies, SOPs, guidelines, and compliance processes.
- Manage immigration system.
- Conduct periodic HR compliance reviews and audits, identify gaps, and recommend practical solutions.
- Help ensure onboarding, offboarding, training, policy acknowledgments, and other HR requirements are properly documented and completed.
- Maintain compliance calendars, dashboards, trackers, and reporting.
- Identify emerging risks, trends, and opportunities to improve HR practices.
- Develop practical checklists, templates, workflows, and tools that make compliance easier for the organization.
- Partner across HR, Operations, IT, and other teams on organization-wide compliance initiatives.
- Help improve and automate compliance processes as the organization grows.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
This is an opportunity to do more than maintain existing processes. You'll have the ability to help shape and strengthen how HR compliance operates within the organization.
You'll gain hands-on experience with:
- Organization-wide compliance initiatives
- Compliance training and facilitation
- HR policy development and implementation
- Internal compliance reviews and audits
- Risk identification and mitigation
- HR technology and process improvement
- Building scalable HR compliance practices
- Cross-functional and leadership collaboration
Your work will have a visible impact across the organization.
What We're Looking For
We'd love to meet someone who brings:
- Approximately 3+ years of experience in HR, HR Compliance, People Operations, Employee Relations, Learning & Development, or a related area.
- Experience presenting, facilitating training, or communicating information to groups.
- Familiarity with HR policies and workplace practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Good judgment and discretion when working with confidential information.
- The ability to take ownership of projects and move work forward independently.
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.
Experience conducting compliance audits, developing policies or training, working with HR technology, or supporting a nonprofit or growing organization is a plus—but we encourage you to apply even if you don't check every box.
Volunteer Commitment
- 8–12 hours per week
- Remote opportunity
- Flexible schedule with availability for scheduled training and key meetings
- Ongoing volunteer opportunity
