Job OverviewHDR is seeking a qualified Senior Electrical Engineer to support natural gas and renewable energy generation projects and serve as Owner's Engineer and/or Advisor.ResponsibilitiesLead teams for utility‑scale power generation design projects, including traditional Owner's Engineering roles.Design power generation and distribution systems, protection and motor control, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development.Develop balance‑of‑plant designs such as raceway, lighting, and grounding systems.Mentor junior engineers, manage client relationships, and lead marketing activities including proposal technical writing, fee builds, and work breakdown structure development.Perform design and engineer‑of‑record work for power plant systems.Coordinate project reviews with Project Manager, Project Controller, and management.Act as a mentor to other staff members as needed.Travel to client meetings and project sites (expectedMandatory QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering.Minimum of 10 years of experience in power market sector project execution.Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (e.g., PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).Commitment to an employee‑owned culture.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with an Electrical Power emphasis.Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering with an Electrical Power emphasis.Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical power generation design.Design experience with simple‑cycle and combined‑cycle power generation.Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm.Excellent communication, written and organizational skills.Strong leadership skills, able to work independently or lead multi‑discipline or small teams.Extensive knowledge of three‑phase electrical power, protection and control design, system grounding, and life safety systems.BenefitsHDR provides a comprehensive benefits package that promotes employee ownership, health, performance, and success, including medical, dental, vision, short and long‑term disability, life insurance, an employee assistance program, paid time away, parental leave, paid holidays, a retirement savings plan with employer match, employee referral bonus, and tuition reimbursement.
