We exist to strengthen, preserve, and revitalize communities through equitable and inclusive development .Come Build With UsThis is a rare opportunity to lead meaningful, transformative, community-centered real estate projects while helping shape the future of a growing, impact-driven organization.We are seeking a hands-on, entrepreneurial development leader who thrives at the intersection of mission, capital, and execution .About the RoleAs the Director of Community Development & Revitalization , you will lead the full lifecycle of real estate development projects from concept through completion while advancing HDDC's mission and capital investment strategy.Working closely with the Vice President of Real Estate and executive leadership, you will:Drive development strategyStructure and execute complex dealsPartner with public agencies, capital providers, and community stakeholdersDeliver projects that are both investment-ready and community-impact drivenThis role requires someone who can operate strategically and tactically in a lean, fast-evolving environment.What You'll DoLead or co-lead end-to-end real estate development projects, including site identification, feasibility, underwriting, financing, construction, and stabilizationIdentify emerging needs and issues that impact housing, economic self-sufficiency or community vitality; propose appropriate responses, including new program or outreach efforts for HDDC to respond to these evolving needsStructure and evaluate transactions using tax credits, grants, loans, and other community development capital toolsDevelop and manage financial models, pro formas, and investment analysesPartner with developers, lenders, public agencies, and community stakeholders to advance projectsOversee project budgets, timelines, and compliance requirementsIdentify and pursue new development opportunities through RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and public-private partnershipsCollaborate with internal leadership to align real estate strategy with programmatic and capital prioritiesSupport capital raising, investor reporting, and impact storytellingRepresent HDDC in negotiations, community forums, stakeholder meetings, conferences, tours, presentations, and as otherwise directedWhat We're Looking ForWe're looking for a candidate who brings both technical depth and mission alignment.You'll be a strong fit if you have:7–10+ years of experience in real estate development, affordable housing, or community development financeProven experience leading development projects from concept through completion (this is a must-have requirement)Strong knowledge of community development financing, including LIHTC and affordable housing finance, public subsidies (HOME, CDBG, etc.), and capital stack structuringExperience with financial modeling, underwriting, and feasibility analysisWorking knowledge of zoning, land use, and entitlement processesAbility to manage multiple complex projects simultaneouslyStrong relationships with public agencies, developers, and capital partnersWhat We're Not Looking ForLicensed real estate agents or brokers primarily focused on residential sales or transactionsIndividuals whose experience is limited to buying, selling, or flipping single-family homesCandidates with property management, leasing, or asset management-only backgrounds without development experienceProfessionals who have supported development projects but have not led deals end-to-endCandidates with experience limited to commercial real estate without exposure to affordable housing or community development financeWhat Sets You ApartYou have closed deals, not just supported themYou understand how to balance financial viability with community impactYou are comfortable operating in a growing, entrepreneurial environmentYou bring both strategic thinking and hands-on executionWhy Join HDDCBe part of a mission-driven organization with a 40+ year legacyHelp shape the evolution into a community investment and development platformWork on projects that create lasting, visible impact in communitiesCollaborate with a passionate, purpose-driven leadership teamOpportunity to build and scale development capabilities within a growing organizationCompensation & BenefitsAt HDDC, we believe in supporting our team so they can do their best work and make meaningful impact.
