As a senior leader, this role will be involved in a variety of projects – highway, municipal roadway, intermodal/port, and/or rail design projects, and will work with other Moffatt & Nichol transportation departments across the state, US, and potentially internationally. Current GDOT and local govt projects include round-abouts, the 1st concept design of a superstreet in GA, intersections, new location (by-pass) of a highway, and others. Familiarity with a variety of civil engineering type projects, permitting experience, and a strong existing professional network with municipal, GDOT or regulatory agency staff is desired.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Duties and responsibilities:Perform engineering design tasks for highway, municipal roadway, some rail and potentially intermodal/port projects from preliminary to final designDevelop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packagesMaintain and establish working relationships with regulatory agencies, local government, GDOT and state clients, as well as private clientsProvide engineering design services for traditional design-bid-build and design-build highway projectsMentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans, including but not limited to implementation and knowledge of cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing and pavement markings plansCoordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managersParticipate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performanceIdentify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective actionOther duties:Please note this job posting is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
