Quality Assurance Specialist
The Quality Assurance Specialist at Royal Fresh Cuts is responsible for supporting food safety programs that align with the company's mission. This role involves identifying risks, ensuring quality products, and collaborating with management to maintain foodsafety standards. The specialist also assists in various quality assurance tasks without directly managing staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Training personnel in food safety, GMP, SOPs, regulatory compliance, and other technical areas.
- Conducting chemical, ice, and equipment monitoring, and communicating reorder alerts.
- Assisting in food safety and quality checks, including aging reports, shelf-life monitoring, and sample collection.
- Preparing product specifications, generating Certificates of Analysis (COA), and managing QA documentation.
- Serving as a backup for QA Leads in tasks like environmental swabbing, sampling, and pre-op checks.
- Tracking customer complaints, swabbing results, and food safety incidents, and assisting in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Calibrating lab equipment and providing technical support to operations.
- Making recommendations for improvement and assisting with other QA tasks as assigned.

Qualifications include:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in food safety and quality assurance in food manufacturing.
- HACCP, SQF, and PCQI certifications.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations, quality assurance methods, and manufacturing operations.
Skills and attributes include:
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and report writing.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Ability to work independently and make decisions with limited information.
Working conditions include:
- Fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and critical situations requiring flexibility.
- 75% of time spent on the plant floor, 25% on administrative work.
- Standard warehouse hazards, including moving equipment and people.
Physical requirements include:
- Regularly required to see, sit, stand, walk, read, type, and hear.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Work hours require flexibility, including working beyond business hours, weekends, and rotating shifts.
