In the U.S., WSP has been recognized on TIME's list of the world's best companies and Fortune's Change the World list.You will have access to an unparalleled network of resources and opportunities to collaborate on exciting projects with diverse teammates from across the globe.Your Impact Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilitiesEvaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, industry codes and standards to projectsPerform high-complexity engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selectionDevelop P&IDs for power plant systems including steam cycles, boiler feed, condensate, water treatment, fuel gas, hydrogen, and utilitiesPrepare sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment including heat recovery steam generators, condensers, cooling towers, tanks, blowers, and pumpsPrepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systemsCheck design deliverables by industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standardsCoordinate with other drafters, designers, and engineers and review work progress and resultsProvide technical mentoring and/or oversightPerform professional mechanical engineering work and conduct complex investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permitsDevelop construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans requiring coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clientsInvolved from project inception to completion in the management of mechanical design and construction of building and infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, new builds, operating specifications, materials, phasing, and safety plansOversees the development and implementation of advanced technologies and design standards to account for proper installation and functioning of equipment and systemsLead larger-scale mechanical engineering projects, prepare and oversee budgets, monitor hours and expenses, supervise subcontractors and employeesMeet with public or private entities to discuss engineering/construction challenges and programsEnsure technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations to address engineering, design, or construction issuesDevelop a client base for high-level mechanical engineering services and identify business development opportunitiesMentor staff to support growth and professional developmentCollaborate with professionals from diverse disciplines on federal, state, regional, and locally funded projectsAdhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needsWho You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline10+ years of relevant post-education experience in mechanical design for industrial facilitiesEngineer license required (multi-state preferred)Working knowledge of MicroStation or AutoCADWorking knowledge of SmartPlant 3D or CADWorxExperience using Caesar II or AutoPIPEExperience using ThermoflowStrong proficiency with mechanical engineering principles and their application to permitting and project workStrong knowledge of relevant mechanical engineering and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirementsAbility to perform technical computations and interpret plans and specifications against regulationsExperience planning and conducting inspections and investigations on construction and design of facilitiesEffective interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiencesStrong self-leadership and ability to interact with clients and stakeholders at all levelsAbility to work independently and provide guidance to mid-level to senior team members with QA/QC adherenceExperience providing critical reviews and developing technical deliverables with high complexityStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skills for data analysis and technical decisionsProven ability to coordinate and direct subcontractors to complete tasks safely and efficientlyCommitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety and policy standardsFlexibility to varied schedules and ability to adapt under pressureOccasional travel may be requiredPreferred Qualifications Master's Degree in EngineeringPower plant design experienceRenewable natural gas plant design experienceWSP Benefits: WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on health and financial stability throughout the employee's career, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, retirement savings, paid sick leave, paid vacation/personal time, paid parental leave, and paid time off for bereavement, voting, and naturalization proceedings.Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $115,100-$205,040.
