We're seeking Senior CEI Inspector professionals who will provide Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) services for transportation projects located in the state of Georgia. This advanced technical work supports engineers in structure and roadway construction inspection, materials sampling, inspection, and testing. Work involves a fairly wide range of decision making and judgment, and may include providing work direction to others.This post is for future roles and not for a specific opportunity that is available right now. Training materials will be provided to obtain the required certifications.ResponsibilitiesConduct independent complex inspections and supervise lower-level inspectors performing routine to moderately complex inspections of roadway and structure construction processes and materials to ensure compliance with construction contracts.Perform contract administration duties, including field measurements of pay items and completion of Department-required documentation.Participate in Concept Meetings, Field Plan Reviews (Preliminary and/or Final), CPM schedule reviews, project close-out activities, and other duties as assigned.Perform project engineering duties in lieu of the Project Engineer on smaller construction projects with construction let amounts less than $10,000,000.Responsible for the administration, inspection, and management of local let projects once assigned to Construction.Attend meetings associated with project administration and coordination.Ensure local municipalities remain in compliance with LAP processes to effectively close out projects upon completion.Verify invoiced work for satisfactory completion and ensure project funding allocations are appropriately managed across project phases.AttributesExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational and leadership skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Strong collaboration and coordination skills.Ability to supervise and instruct lower-level employees in proper work methods.Minimum RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED.4+ years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency, or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry related to highway and transportation engineering.Skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers.Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.Ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of lower-level employees.Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law.Proficiency with computers (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, internet, etc.).Required CertificationsGDOT WECS.GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.Passing scores on GDOT's Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 3 (Earthwork, Bridges, Incidental Items).SalaryExpected Salary: $72k-$85k/year ($35-$41/hour).
