This position is an in-office, full-time, exempt position.Reports to: Legal Affairs ManagerSchedule: Monday through Friday. Occasional travel on weekends for meetings and conferences.Position DescriptionThe Legal Affairs Specialist is responsible for providing administrative and legal support to the Legal Affairs Team. The Legal Affairs Specialist will work with the Legal Affairs Manager and Legal Affairs Officer to further the goals and strategic initiatives of GAR.Staff LiaisonForms Committee (co-liaison with Legal Affairs Specialist)Legal Action Committee (co-liaison with Legal Affairs Specialist)Duties and ResponsibilitiesBecomes Professional Standards Administrator certifiedActs as board counsel on all Professional Standards hearings and mediationsAssists Professional Standards Specialist with drafting Professional Standards hearing decisions and mediation agreementsMonitors, sorts and organizes Helpline related questions, including sending reminders as neededCreates and maintains an updated library of legal Helpline questions and answersMonitors and returns phone calls for Legal Affairs TeamResponds to phone calls and emails as it relates to forms access and purchases for members, licensees and real estate schools/instructorsDrafts cease and desist letters when there is unauthorized use of the Georgia REALTOR formsWorks with Legal Affairs Manager to prepare the GAR Forms Package for releaseCreates and maintains a comprehensive GAR Forms SOPAssists in the preparation for and attends (as needed): (1) GAR Inaugural & Legislative Conference, (2) GAR Annual Conference & Expo, (3) GAR Leadership Summit, and (4) GAR Brokers SummitAttends national meetings as needed and directed, including but not limited to (1) NAR Legislative Meeting, (2) NAR Annual Meeting, and (3) NAR Legal SummitResponsible for committee agendas and minutes for the committees that you serve as staff liaison or co-staff liaisonAssists Legal Affairs Manager with their committee agendas and minutes as requestedWorks with appropriate committees and staff to identify content, material, and potential speakers for forums and/or classes at GAR Inaugural Conference, GAR Annual Conference & Expo and GAR Broker SummitProvides information in response to questions/concerns from members and the public regarding Georgia REALTOR proprietary forms purchase and authorized useConducts legal research and drafts memos for the Legal Affairs Team and CEO as requestedOther duties as directed by the Legal Affairs Manager, Legal Affairs Officer and CEOQualificationsNon-profit experience (a plus)Legal experience requiredAttention to detail (required)Task orientedMust be an effective verbal and written communicator with the ability to work independently within very specific timeframesFamiliarity with contract lawProficient level of knowledge of Microsoft Suite of productsEducationJD RequiredCompensationCommensurate with experienceGAR offers a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, ensuring a supportive work environment for our team members.#J-18808-Ljbffr
