JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for overseeing payroll, overseeing accounts payable processing for operations and client trust funds, month-end closing including reconciling balance sheet accounts/preparing financial statements and related schedules, supervision of payroll/AP staff, monitoring of representative payee status for consumers including resolving issues with the Social Security Administration, room/board calculations and transfers, weekly cash management, annual company-wide budget preparation, assistance with annual audit preparation, and periodic cash forecasting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee and supervise payroll and accounts payable functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
• Manage month-end and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Prepare budget-to-actual analyses, financial reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Lead annual budget development and support strategic financial planning initiatives.
• Support our affiliated subsidiary, UCP of South Carolina, an organization with approximately $10-$11 million in annual revenue.
• Administer consumer trust funds and representative payee processes, including coordination with the Social Security Administration.
• Ensure compliance with Medicaid, Social Security, and other funding source requirements.
• Support annual audit activities and preparation of required financial schedules and documentation.
• Oversee 1099 processing and other regulatory reporting requirements.
• Provide leadership, training, and performance oversight for payroll and accounts payable staff.
• Collaborate with internal departments to support operational and financial objectives.

EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in public accounting performing audits.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, accounts payable, and general ledger systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
• Experience with Sage, ADP, or similar accounting and payroll software preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Must be able to work independently using experience-based problem solving.
SPECIAL LICENSES, REGISTRATION OR CERTIFICATION:
• CPA required
EDUCATION
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
