About the CompanyAsset Living is a third‑party management firm with decades of experience delivering exceptional value to partners across the country in multifamily, single‑family home rentals, affordable housing, build‑to‑rent, active adult, and student housing divisions.Position OverviewThe Assistant Controller will lead a team of accountants, coordinate property financial statements for a group of clients, and ensure accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.ResponsibilitiesSupervise the accounting work of a specific team of accountants.Ensure the delivery of financial statements within required client dates.Communicate regularly with clients to discuss financial performance and respond to accounting questions.Guarantee the accuracy of financial statements prepared by the team.Supervise review of rent rolls, reconciliation of bank statements, and monitoring of monthly operating results against budget.Coordinate with operational team members to prepare and approve financial budgets for each property.Work with the Controller, CFO, and other Assistant Controllers to establish and implement departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.Participate in hiring and annual performance reviews for Senior, Junior, and other accountancy staff.Manage staffing efficiency and make recommendations to meet performance metrics.Support Assistant Controllers in responding to financial audit requests and provide procedural improvement recommendations.Travel Requirement: This position does not require travel.Education & ExperienceBachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance.CPA eligible or CPA preferred.Previous experience in third‑party multi‑family property management.Previous experience leading or managing a team of accountants.Excellent critical reasoning, quantitative, and analytical skills.Deep understanding of financial concepts.Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Proven organizational skills with attention to detail.Additional InformationThis job description is not all‑inclusive and may be modified at any time.
