Talented Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care / Step Down (IMCU)
Immediate need for a talented Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care / Step Down (IMCU). This is a 13 weeks contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Atlanta, GA (Onsite). Please review the job description below and contact me ASAP if you are interested.
Pay Range: $50 - $55/hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule: Day shifts (schedule varies) – 36 or 48 hours expected per week (contract options available)
- Manage a 1:4 patient ratio in a 16-20 bed medical step down unit.
- Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions including sepsis, heart failure, respiratory failure, and neurological issues.
- Administer medications, titrate drips, and manage cardiac monitors as needed.
- Perform comprehensive assessments and intervene promptly based on changing patient conditions.
- Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Educate patients and families on disease management, medications, and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation in EMR (EPIC).
- Respond to rapid changes in patient status and escalate care appropriately.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- Must have skills: Registered Nurse, RN, Progressive Care, Step Down, IMCU, ACLS, BLS
- Active RN License (GA or Compact State)
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in progressive care, step down, IMCU, or similar high acuity setting
- Experience in a Level 1 trauma or large hospital setting (preferred)
- Ability to work day shifts (schedule varies), 36 or 48 hours guaranteed per week (contract options)
- Both local and travel candidates considered – local candidates eligible to apply
- Strong critical thinking, cardiac monitoring, and drips management skills
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
- Strong understanding of vasoactive and antiarrhythmic drip titration
- Excellent assessment and rapid intervention skills
- Ability to manage complex, multi morbid patients
- Strong communication and teamwork in a high acuity setting
- Compassionate, patient first mindset
