The Radio Broadcast Meteorologist will provide value added weather content and related audio and/or video products to all customers and partners. This position will also deliver timely, accurate forecast to radio affiliates.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesUtilize existing systems and information to acquire and analyze meteorological dataPrepare and deliver current and extended weather forecasts for Radio and Audio customersProduce and/or deliver customer defined audio products within time specificationsInterpret severe weather informationNotify affiliates of severe weatherAttend team meetings to gain greater perspective on department and industry trendsAssist in the continuous improvement efforts and resolution of team related issuesMaintain customer satisfaction through strong personal and departmental customer service initiativesEducation, Experience, Certification RequirementsBachelor's degree in Meteorology or equivalent knowledgeFive years experience as a broadcaster or meteorologistKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong broadcasting skill/talent is requiredWeather forecasting/Nowcasting experience/skill is preferred.Experience with basic PC applications like Windows, Word, Excel, Access, etc.Experience in process improvement and problem solving a plus.Strong customer service skills/aptitude needed.Excellent written and oral communication skills requiredAbility to work under pressure and quickly prioritize work tasks.Ability to work and make decisions both independently and in a team environment.Ability to work with various telecommunications systems (telephone, ISDN, Voice-mail, etc.)The Weather Channel is a 24 / 7 operation.
