Position SummaryMorehouse Healthcare is seeking a Senior Accountant to ensure accuracy of ledger entries and reconcile subsidiary ledgers with the general ledger. The incumbent will analyze costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to establish the consolidation scope.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssists in preparing and processing all journal entries, allocations, and corrections; oversees all fixed assets, depreciation, and accruals.Oversees preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports and analysis; prepares and forecasts cash flows.Identifies process inefficiencies and provides recommendations for continuous improvement.Prepares and documents journal entries and reconciliations related to balance sheet accounts.Supports the accounting team in preparing quarterly financial statements, including analyzing variance reports and recommending appropriate classifications.Performs complex grant‑related account reconciliations and correlates adjusting journal entries to ensure general ledger accuracy.Performs accounting and budget analysis duties requiring advanced analytical and independent judgment.Performs ad‑hoc financial analysis in response to requests or for various projects/programs.Develops and enhances financial reporting and analysis tools for frequent ad‑hoc analysis of sponsored project activity, supporting PI/Faculty/Staff in financial monitoring.May supervise staff‑level positions.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related field.Minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience.Ability to interpret budgets, grants, and contracts.Detail‑oriented, accurate, analytical, and organized; capable of maintaining confidentiality.Driven and takes initiative, works with a sense of urgency.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Strong communication skills, both oral and written.Strong computer skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel.Experience in healthcare accounting and familiarity with EPIC.Preferred QualificationsCPA or CPA track.Experience with EPIC and Banner Software Systems.Employment ConditionsEmployment may be contingent upon extramural funding and successful performance; it may be terminated or reduced if such funding is not secured or ceases to be available.Equal Opportunity StatementMorehouse School of Medicine is an equal opportunity/equal access/affirmative action employer fully committed to achieving a diverse workforce and complies with all Federal and Georgia State laws, regulations, and executive orders regarding non‑discrimination and affirmative action.
