Transmission Planning Engineer, Technical Lead - 2462mPerforms Transmission Planning studies including steady-state power flow, transient/dynamic system analysis (including EMT), and/or system harmonic and power quality assessments. Provides technical expertise and analytical support for the transmission planning activities of the Corporation by performing transmission planning studies and evaluating electrical alternatives to support transmission system reliability. Supports Corporate regulatory compliance for transmission planning and related functions.ResponsibilitiesPerform power system modeling and analysis in assigned areas using industry standard and custom softwareDevelop and coordinate transmission solutions that promote system reliability and resiliencyDevelop technical reports, capital project scopes and justifications, and other procedural documentationParticipate in industry committees and transmission planning collaboratives with other electric entities as assignedCoordinate with capital project development and budgeting processesTimely completion of required deliverables with a high level of qualityIndividuals in this role will experience comprehensive exposure to and gain a broad understanding of electric power system analysis, transmission system modeling, generation impacts, interregional power flows, and industry coordination practices.QualificationsBSEE, Power Systems, required, Licensed PE and an advanced degree in Power Systems Engineering, preferred6-8+ years of electric utility power systems analysis or planning focused on transmission system planningProven experience with power system transmission analysis tools such as PSSE, TARA, EMT, PSCAD or other similar analysis softwareEffective communicator who develops relationships, works cross-functionally and communicates persuasivelyStrong understanding of electrical engineering concepts such as reliability, load flow, stability, short circuit, voltage regulation, transients, etc.Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.We are committed to workforce diversity.
