What You'll Do...
As a Statistician III, you'll work at the intersection of epidemiology, data science, and laboratory research, developing statistical models and analytic methods that improve influenza surveillance and outbreak detection.
Key Responsibilities & Expected Outcomes
- Conduct research to develop and improve surveillance systems for influenza and other pathogen outbreaks.
- Apply mathematical and statistical modeling approaches to assess intervention effectiveness and infection sources.
- Plan, design, coordinate, and execute statistical studies in collaboration with laboratory personnel.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs).
- Determine sampling strategies, sample sizes, and imputation techniques for missing data.
- Design surveys and record linkage methodologies for diagnostic and laboratory datasets.
- Provide statistical consultation for surveillance and research studies.
- Provide technical assistance and adhoc statistical support across teams.
- Present findings through reports, tables, charts, and graphs while accurately communicating limitations to avoid misinterpretation.
- Deliver briefings and present technical papers to management.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education:BA, BS, or MS in a related scientific or quantitative field.
- Experience:Approximately 4+ years of experience in mathematics/statistics model development, algorithm development, or applied statistical methods.
- Clearance:Ability to obtain/maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education:Mention preferred but not required degrees or certifications.
- Experience:Experience with epidemiologic modeling or surveillance analytics.
• Experience supporting respiratory infection research programs.
- Clearance:CDC Public Trust clearance

- Environment:Work will be performed in a climate controlled office or laboratory setting.
