Overview The Athletic Trainer will provide comprehensive acute concussion care at Shepherd Center's Complex Concussion Clinic in Atlanta. Working under direct clinical supervision, the Trainer collaborates with physicians to develop and execute individualized treatment plans and conducts research and community outreach.Responsibilities Provide acute concussion care, including post‑concussion evaluation, symptom monitoring, and return‑to‑activity planning.Assess medical condition and rehabilitation needs, develop individualized treatment plans with MD.Enter orders for patient care plans, referrals, therapies, diagnostics, and medication refills.Perform concussion testing (Balance Skills, Reaction Time, Cognitive, Ocular Motor) and document results in EHR.Document patient visits in EHR with MD co‑sign, including history, exam, diagnostics, impression, plan, and education.Assist in research activities as assigned.Maintain thorough medical history, injury history, pain assessment, medication and allergy review in EHR.Provide patient and caregiver education.Assist physician with clinic procedures (setup, medication draw, documentation).Perform venipuncture as needed.Practice positive, engaging professional behavior, respecting privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA.Use communication tools (OARS/AIDECT) to deliver patient/family‑centered care.Operate consistently within Shepherd Center standards, policies, and procedures.Pursue professional development to maintain current knowledge.Perform additional duties as required, including outreach and community education to referral sources.Communicate follow‑up to referring sources regarding patient progress.Qualifications Baccalaureate or graduate degree in athletic training or related health profession.Certification by National Athletic Trainer's Association.Georgia Athletic Trainer license.AHA BLS CPR required.IMPACT/MOCA/CITI preferred.Minimum of 2 years clinical athletic training experience, preference for concussion and mild TBI rehab.Basic computer skills, clinical proficiency, manual dexterity.Positive attitude, problem‑solving skills, effective verbal and non‑verbal communication, adaptability.Preferred Qualifications Experience in rehabilitation with focus on concussion and mild TBI.Master's degree in sports medicine or related field.Physical Demands and Working Conditions Ability to transfer and position patients, lift up to 35 lbs.Normal patient care environment; potential exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases.#J-18808-Ljbffr
