The Georgia Dept. of Labor (GDOL) is looking for a skilled and experienced Quality Analyst (tester). This role involves writing test cases, testing the applications, validating the results, identifying and logging the bugs. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of testing Java programming language, and JCL on IBM/DELL mainframe operating systems. This is a consulting position offering a challenging opportunity to contribute to critical projects and enhance your technical skills in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzing business requirements and develop detailed test plans, test scenarios and test cases. Perform testing activities for Java programs on distributed platforms.
- Strong experience with database technologies such as Postgres and DB2 including queries and data verification
- Execute test program changes, update test files, run tests, review results, and ensure the correctness of program changes based on provided requirements.
- Hands on experience in Jira tool
- Prepare both program-level and user-level documentation to support the software development lifecycle.
- Organize, manage and provide clear guidance to teams in order to reach the testing goals and tight deadlines with candor, transparency & collaboration.
Required Experience/Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in Testing Java programs
- Proven experience with DB2 and Postgres
- Solid understanding of the full software development life cycle, including writing test cases, execution of test cases and integration testing, and deployment.
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, and debug computer software to produce required outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills to support non-database functions, correct data errors, and develop data analysis/summary reports.
- Experience in preparing comprehensive documentation for both program-level and user-level.
- Excellent communication skills to obtain user sign-off on all changes prior to moving to production.
- Capability to follow organization guidelines and procedures for checking out source code, migrating changes, etc.
- Commitment to enhancing software for improved efficiency and reduced operating time.
