Science for Georgia is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that works to bridge the gap between scientists and the public. We provide communications training, outreach, and advocacy for the responsible use of science in public policy. The Executive Director serves as the primary representative for the organization and will cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, lawmakers, community organizations, educators, journalists, and strategic partners across Georgia. This role requires a leader who can effectively communicate scientific issues to diverse audiences and build partnerships that support the organization's mission and long-term sustainability.
Job responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversee the day-to-day operations of Science for Georgia in partnership with the Board of Directors.
- Lead fundraising efforts and develop sustainable revenue streams through grants, sponsorships, donations, partnerships, and events.
- Supervise staff and interns while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven organizational culture.
- Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, lawmakers, foundations, educators, media, and other strategic partners across Georgia.
- Oversee organizational programs, public engagement initiatives, coalition work, and science communication efforts to ensure mission alignment and impact.
- Direct organizational communications, financial oversight, administrative operations, and compliance with nonprofit regulations and governance standards.
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree or equivalent experience
- 2 or more years of leadership experience in a related field (e.g. STEM field, nonprofit management)
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Curiosity and a willingness to take appropriate risks and learn from mistakes.
- Ability to advocate for and clearly explain evidence-based policies in a nonpartisan way
- A dedication to making a positive difference for the people of Georgia.
