Sterile Processing Technician
Minimum experience: 2 years; 1st timers are accepted. Patient population: not specified. Certifications required: BLS (preferred only). General skills and work setting requirements: sterile processing tech – all OR procedures except open heart; experiencewith high-level disinfection (HLD), proper selection of wrapping materials, sterilization wrapping procedures, bronchoscopes, sets/trays assembly, scope/probe reprocessing, sterilization; decontamination, ortho/total joints. Ratio/census: 10 rooms with average case load of 25. Unit systems: Epic, Pyxis and preferred experience with CENISTRAC (SPD instrument tracking), STERIS (SPD sterilization equipment) and STERIS (SPD decontamination equipment). Scrub color: provided by the facility. RTO: max 7 days. Weekends: every other weekend unless specified elsewhere. Floating: within all sectors of sterile processing. Call requirements: not specified. Holidays: if one major holiday falls in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work both of the holidays. If three major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of the holidays.
