NOVA Engineering is seeking a mid-level Structural Forensic Engineer (P.E.) to join our Forensics Engineering group in Buford, GA. This role supports a diverse forensic and restoration workload that typically includes evaluating distressed structures, building envelope evaluations, materials sampling and nondestructive testing, structural analysis and modeling, repair design, report preparation, and project management. Projects typically range from $10,000 to $2 million in construction costs.

Responsibilities and Duties:
The responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:
- Perform field investigations and structural assessments of existing buildings and structures
- Evaluate distressed conditions and determine probable causes of failure, damage, or deterioration
- Conduct and/or oversee materials sampling, including concrete and masonry core sampling, and interpret laboratory results
- Utilize and interpret nondestructive testing (NDT) methods, including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), to assess subsurface and structural conditions
- Perform and prepare structural calculations, engineering analysis, and modeling
- Develop repair recommendations and restoration designs, including preparation of construction drawings (plans, sections, and details)
- Provide construction administration services (shop drawing review, RFIs, field observations)
- Manage projects from start to finish, including scope, schedule, client communication, and deliverables
- Prepare clear, concise, and defensible engineering and forensic reports
- Support or lead building envelope investigations, including water intrusion and façade performance assessments
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff
Qualifications and Skills: - Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
- 4+ years of experience in structural engineering with emphasis in forensics, existing structures, restoration, or investigation work
- Experience with field investigations, condition assessments, and failure analysis
- Experience with GPR, nondestructive testing methods, and/or materials sampling (including core sampling) preferred
- Strong technical writing and communication skills, especially in preparation of forensic reports
- Proficiency with AutoCAD required; Revit a plus
- Strong working knowledge of IBC and IRC building codes
- Ability to work independently in both office and field environments, including occasional physical demands of site investigations
Preferred Experience: - Experience with structural forensic investigations and expert report preparation
- Familiarity with forensic tools, testing equipment, and inspection technologies (GPR, moisture testing, crack monitoring, etc.)
- Experience in repair/restoration design and construction oversight
